With Zapier, you can create an automated workflow and trigger it with the alerts sent from TrendSpider via Webhook connection.
Stage I: Create a Webhook Trigger
Step 1: Log in to Zapier and click on the + Create Zap button from the left sidebar
Step 2: Search for Webhooks by Zapier and select the same.
Step 3: Select the Trigger Event from the dropdown list.
Tip: It is recommended to use Catch Hook as it provides you a unique URL to which you can make POST requests 💡
Step 4: Click on the Continue button.
Stage II: Zapier Webhook Payload
Zapier provides the users with the Webhook payload by default. However, if you want the Zapier to use the specific key from the request made to the webhook URL, then you will need to enter the text in the “Pick off a Child Key” field.
Click on the Continue button.
Stage III: Add Webhook URL to TrendSpider
Zap Webhook URL will be generated at this stage. You can copy this URL and paste it (for the notification purpose) while creating the Trading Bot in TrendSpider or setting up Dynamic or Multi-Factor Alert.
You can also test the Trigger or skip it and proceed to the next stage. To test a webhook trigger, you will need to first create the alert in the TrendSpider and it should send some data to the Webhook URL. For more information, please refer to the documentation- Test Your Webhook.
Webhook Payload Example (JSON)
You can also send more than one event for every Webhook request. For more information, please refer to the documentation- Sending more than one event per webhook request
Stage IV: Configure the Action
Configure the action that you would like the Zapier to perform once the TrendSpider will send the alert to Zapier via Webhook. For this purpose, you can begin by searching across thousands of apps and selecting the one that fulfills your needs. In the example below, we have selected Slack.
Select an event that the Zapier would perform on the selected application once the TrendSpider sends the alert/data. In this case, we would like the Zapier to Send Channel Message in Slack. Click on the Continue button once done.
Connect your application account. In this case, we have added a Slack account. Once done, then click on the Continue button.
Stage V: Setup the Action
Setup the action by entering the text and configuring the values in the fields provided. For example, in this case, where we have selected Slack, a user will need to configure the Channel, Message Text, Bot Name, Thread, etc. Some fields are mandatory and some fields are optional.
Click on the Continue button once done.
You can proceed further by testing and reviewing your configuration or skipping the test.
Stage VI: Publish Zap
Publish Zap to save your setup and make your automated workflow live. Click on the Publish Zap button and you are good to go.
This is what the Workflow looks like in this case:
Whenever TrendSpider will send the data to the Zapier Webhook URL, the workflow will be triggered and the action defined in the added application shall get into the motion.
